More and more academics are turning to blogs and social media to increase the visibility of their work. They are right in doing so, as these media offer various¬†opportunities that help shape, develop and improve upon research. Together with colleague Chris Aalberts, I participated in a seminar on the advantages of blogging and social media, organized for the PhD students of the Erasmus Graduate School of Social Sciences and the Humanities. In my contribution, I discussed thirteen reasons why academics should blog and tweet, all taken from academic research and academic blogs. The seminar was meant as a teaser for a more elaborate workshop that I’ll teach later this fall. My slides are available¬†via Slideshare.

If you are an academic and interested in a workshop or seminar on blogs and social media for department or institute, feel free to contact me.
